For nearly two decades, I’ve worked at the intersection of early childhood development, parenting, and education. I’ve watched our school system evolve through both a professional lens and a personal one, as my own son enters third grade this year. In that time, I’ve supported countless parents and educators who are navigating overwhelming, fast‑paced shifts in how children learn and how schools operate. What I want most is to help build and sustain a community support system that gives every child, and every adult who cares for them, the conditions they need to thrive. My work has always been rooted in strengthening human development, and stepping into this role allows me to continue that mission through a new and meaningful lens. Ultimately, I want our schools to return to what research, and our own district policies, consistently affirm: the irreplaceable value of human connection, balanced learning, and a collaborative partnership between educators and families.
I want to work on: 1) Ensuring technology is used intentionally, not automatically. 2) Increasing hands‑on, discussion‑based, and movement‑based learning. 3) Reducing digital test‑taking where it undermines comprehension or equity. 4) Strengthening teacher training on balanced instructional design.
I want to work on: 1) Rebuilding trust and collaboration between families and schools. 2) Creating more accessible, welcoming opportunities for parents to participate. 3) Ensuring parent voice is included in program development, as required by Title I policies. 4) Strengthening communication channels so parents feel invited, not excluded.
I want to work on: 1) Bridging the gap between policy and practice. 2) Ensuring policies reflect real classroom experience, not just administrative compliance. 3) Bringing educator and parent voices into policy execution.
